Few areas in the United States are as well positioned as Denver, with the population of the metropolitan area projected to reach nearly 2.3 million by the end of 2001. Information technology, the largest source of air cargo products, has experienced outstanding growth, and the total value of nonagricultural products shipped from Denver has grown from $1.5 billion to more than $5.0 billion in the past ten years.
World Port
is a reflection of the substantial growth of the Denver air cargo market,
the City itself, and the industrial base of the region, working together to
position the airport to serve as both an origin and destination point, and
an intermodal transshipment hub. When complete, World Port will provide air
cargo and aviation support facilities that will help the region achieve its
rightful role in the global marketplace of the 21st century.
